DEATHS IN PARADISEFive People Drown in 24 Hours on Greek Beaches

The Greek coastlines have seen a tragic spike in drownings, with five people losing their lives in the past 24 hours, according to the coast guard. It seems even paradise can be perilous.

On Thursday evening, the serene shores of Vrachati, Corinthia turned sombre when a 75-year-old man was pulled unconscious from the water. Despite being rushed to hospital, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Meanwhile, the island of Thassos witnessed heartbreak as a 78-year-old Bulgarian man was found unresponsive on a popular beach. Lifeguards fought to revive him, but sadly, it was a battle they couldn’t win.

Rhodes, known for its golden beaches, wasn’t spared from tragedy either. Two separate incidents claimed the lives of a 54-year-old German man and a 76-year-old French tourist. What should have been a relaxing holiday turned into a devastating nightmare for their families.

And in Stylida, Central Greece, an 87-year-old man’s peaceful swim came to a tragic end as he too was found dead in the water.

Authorities are urging beachgoers to stay vigilant and follow safety guidelines, particularly as temperatures soar and beaches fill with tourists.
