WRIST ACTORGeorge Clooney in Mykonos to Promote Omega’s Speedmaster Watch

Hollywood actor George Clooney has arrived on the Greek island of Mykonos to participate in an event promoting Omega’s Speedmaster watch. Clooney, known for his association with the luxury watch brand, was seen exiting the VIP area of Mykonos airport and appeared in high spirits as he interacted with airport staff and commented on the pleasant weather. The purpose of the event remains undisclosed, with Omega keeping the details under wraps. Last year, Clooney collaborated with Omega and actor Hyun Bin to launch a campaign for the Speedmaster collection, featuring stainless steel watches with a slim and refined design.

The Omega Speedmaster has a rich history, having been introduced in 1957 as a timepiece for racing drivers. It quickly gained popularity for its smart and timeless design, as well as its practical features such as perfect legibility and a bezel-mounted tachymeter scale. The collection has become synonymous with high-performance and functional watches. The current models are priced at $8,300 for the leather strap version and $8,600 for the bracelet variant.

Beyond his involvement with Omega, Clooney has also been an outspoken advocate for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece. In a communication with the chairwoman of the British Committee for the Reunification of the Parthenon Sculptures, he said: “There are indeed many objects of historical value that must be returned to their original owners. However, none of them is as important as the Marbles of the Parthenon.”

He has also previously discussed the topic with his wife, Amal Alamuddin, during their courtship, as she was representing the Greek government in their efforts to reclaim the marbles from the British Museum. Clooney remains hopeful that the marbles will eventually be reunited with their original home.
