HIT HIM UPMan Charged in Connection with Murder of Rapper Tupac Shakur

After nearly three decades of mystery surrounding the murder of hip-hop legend Tupac Shakur, Las Vegas police have charged Duane “Keffe D” Davis with one count of murder with a deadly weapon. The rapper, aged 25 at the time of his death, was fatally shot in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas in 1996.

Marc DiaGiacomo, the prosecutor, described Davis as the “on-ground, on-site commander” who “ordered the death” of Tupac Shakur. The indictment by a grand jury in Nevada marks a significant development in the long-standing investigation. Davis, now 60 years old, was apprehended while walking near his residence.

The artist’s contributions to rap, poetry, and acting have left an indelible mark on culture and society. News of the arrest has prompted reflection on his enduring legacy.

During the mid-1990s, Tupac was embroiled in a feud with fellow rapper Biggie Smalls, also known as The Notorious B.I.G. This East Coast-West Coast rivalry became a defining element of hip-hop during that era. Six months after Tupac’s murder, Biggie Smalls was shot and killed in March 1997.
