Crete, Greece – A wildfire erupted in Heraklion, Crete, sparking a major firefighting operation. The blaze was first reported shortly before 8 p.m. on Monday, engulfing a grassy area situated between the villages of Ambelouzos and Agioi Deka.

The fire brigade swiftly mobilized, dispatching 25 firefighters equipped with 11 vehicles to the scene. Additionally, 15 ground-based firefighters were organized into four teams to tackle the inferno. The challenging firefighting efforts are further complicated by strong winds in the area, making containment a formidable task.
