According to a source, Ariana Grande and Dalton Gomez have decided to end their relationship after two years of marriage.
The 30-year-old singer and the 27-year-old luxury real estate agent separated earlier this year but “have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship” as confirmed by PEOPLE and initially reported by TMZ.
Recently, while in London filming the screen adaptation of Wicked, Grande was seen without her engagement ring and wedding band while attending Wimbledon. However, it is worth noting that last August, she clarified in a TikTok video that she wasn’t wearing the ring because it was being cleaned, dismissing any speculation about a potential divorce. At the time she said “I’m just not wearing my wedding ring, it’s getting cleaned. I’m not getting a divorce before you start, don’t.”
In May, Grande took to Instagram to celebrate their second anniversary, posting a picture with a “2” symbolizing their years as husband and wife, and a heart with the phrase “3.5 together” representing their years as a couple. She said “I love him so” in the caption. Similarly, Gomez shared affectionate photos for Valentine’s Day, which Grande reshared.
The couple tied the knot in May 2021 in a private ceremony at their home in Montecito, California, with less than 20 people in attendance. A representative for Grande confirmed the wedding to PEOPLE, describing the event, the representative said: “The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”
Sources close to the couple have praised Gomez, emphasizing that he is a great match for Grande, adding that “Dalton’s entirely unfazed by the scope of her celebrity and is very grounding for her. He’s young but mature and knows what he wants out of life.”
Grande and Gomez started dating in January 2020 and announced their engagement 11 months later. Throughout their relationship, they preferred to keep a low profile, rarely sharing details publicly. However, Grande did give her followers a glimpse into their connection last November when she posted a carousel of photos on Instagram, including two pictures of Gomez.
