Orla Melissa Sloan, a 22-year-old Instagram influencer with 81,000 followers, has been implicated in a case of harassment and stalking involving several professional football players. Sloan targeted Mason Mount from Chelsea, Ben Chilwell, also from Chelsea, and Billy Gilmour from Brighton. She bombarded the athletes with incessant calls and messages, demonstrating an unhealthy obsession.

Sloan appeared in Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where she pleaded guilty to one count of harassment without violence and two counts of stalking. The court heard that she was initially invited to a party at Chilwell’s residence after connecting with him on Instagram. Subsequently, she had a one-time encounter with Mount at the party, and they sporadically communicated for about six months until Mount ended their association. Sloan’s behavior escalated when he started blocking her, prompting her to change her phone number 21 times and continuously send him messages, even going as far as purchasing new numbers. In her messages, Sloan threatened Mount, warning him that he must apologize or face the consequences of unlocking a new character called “Devil Baby.” Her infatuation went beyond Mount, as she bombarded Gilmour with messages concerning Mount, even after he had relocated to Brighton. Gilmour, fearing for his safety, sought protective measures from his new club, including deleting his friends and family from Instagram to prevent Sloan from contacting them. During her campaign of harassment, Sloan created an Instagram account named DevilBaby_10, using it to fabricate collages of Chilwell with other women and tag his family and friends in the posts. The stalking persisted for several months, causing significant distress to the victims. Gilmour revealed that he suffered from sleep deprivation and was forced to take sleeping tablets, ultimately impacting his performance on the field. He expressed his feelings of isolation as he had recently moved to a new town without any friends or family. Sloan pleaded guilty to stalking Mount from June 19 to October 28, 2022, and Gilmour from September 10 to October 28, 2022. She also admitted to harassing Chilwell without violence from October 20 to 29. Sloan, an alleged ambassador for Fashion Nova, a fast fashion retailer based in Los Angeles, regularly flaunts her extravagant lifestyle on Instagram, showcasing her travels to destinations like London, Mykonos, and Bali.
