Pep Guardiola has finally captured the attention of film icon Julia Roberts, seven years after she broke his heart by visiting Manchester United instead of his team, Manchester City. Roberts, one of Guardiola’s three idols, took to Instagram to praise Manchester City’s Champions League victory, which completed their historic treble after winning the Premier League and FA Cup.

In her post, Roberts wrote, “Congratulations @pepteam for leading your team to be UCL champions. #pep #soccermom.” This acknowledgment from the Hollywood legend will definitely delight Guardiola, who playfully joked about his feelings for Roberts in March, even while being happily married to Cristina Serra.
Reflecting on the disappointment he felt when Roberts visited Manchester United instead of Manchester City in the past, Guardiola expressed his admiration for the actress. He revealed that his three idols in life were Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Julia Roberts. Guardiola lamented the fact that Roberts chose to visit their rivals during a period when Manchester City had been outperforming Manchester United, considering it a significant disappointment.
“I have three idols in my life. Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, and Julia Roberts,” says Guardiola.
“Julia Roberts years ago came to Manchester – not in the 90s when Sir Alex (Ferguson) was winning titles and titles and titles.
“She came in the period where we were better than United, in these four or five years, right?” he continued.
“And she went to visit Man United. She didn’t come to see us. That’s why even if I win the Champions League it will not compare for the fact that Julia Roberts came to Manchester and didn’t come to see us,” he added.
With Manchester City’s recent Champions League triumph, Guardiola can now determine if his claim about Roberts was genuine or if he was merely being dramatic. We eagerly await a potential sequel to his heartfelt expression of disappointment.
