Princess Tatiana and Prince Nikolaos of Greece have announced their decision to part ways after 13 years of marriage.
The announcement came on April 19 through a statement released by the office of the former Greek royal family, catching many off guard. “Prince Nikolaos and Princess Tatiana, after fourteen years of living together, have decided to dissolve their marriage,” the statement revealed, emphasizing the difficulty of their decision and the mutual respect and love they hold for each other.
But amidst the solemnity of the split, there’s a glimmer of hope for the future. “The same values of respect and understanding will form the basis of their relationship in the future, a relationship of deep and sincere friendship,” the statement continued, hinting at an amicable parting.
The news comes mere weeks after the couple made a joint appearance at the thanksgiving service for King Constantine, Prince Nikolaos’ father and the last king of Greece. Their united front during the ceremony on Feb. 27, 2024, at St. George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, hinted at nothing amiss in their relationship.
Prince Nikolaos, 54, and Princess Tatiana, 43, tied the knot in a fairytale wedding at the Cathedral of Ayios Nikolaos on the picturesque island of Spetses, Greece, in August 2010. The ceremony was attended by a host of royal dignitaries, including Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel of Sweden, King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain, and King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima of the Netherlands.
“Family will always be by their side,” the statement assured, while thanking the public for their respect and discretion during this challenging time.
