DRAGGED ONHouse of the Dragon Season 2 Set to Fire Up Screens in June

Get ready to dive back into the world of dragons and power struggles as House of the Dragon Season 2 is confirmed to hit screens this June, according to Warner Bros. Discovery streaming and gaming chief J.B. Perrette.

The specific release day remains under wraps, but fans can mark their calendars for a summer spectacle. HBO and Max content chief Casey Bloys had previously hinted at a summer release during a press event in November 2023.

The anticipation for the upcoming season escalated with the release of a teaser in December 2023, offering glimpses of intense confrontations between the Targaryens and the Hightowers. Princess Rhaenys, played by Eve Best, ominously warns, “There is no war so hateful to the Gods as a war between kin and no war so bloody as a war between dragons.”

Familiar faces from Season 1, including Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith), Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), and Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), make a return, promising a continuation of the epic saga.

The green light for Season 2 came in August 2022, riding high on the success of the series premiere. The debut episode shattered records, garnering over 20 million viewers in the U.S. alone and earning the title of HBO’s most-watched new original series.

Francesca Orsi, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming, expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments in Season 1. In a statement to PEOPLE, she said, “We are beyond proud of what the entire House of the Dragon team has accomplished with season one. Our phenomenal cast and crew undertook a massive challenge and exceeded all expectations, delivering a show that has already established itself as must-see-TV.”

Orsi extended gratitude to George R.R. Martin, Ryan Condal, and Miguel Sapochnik, the driving forces behind the series, and expressed excitement about continuing the epic saga of House Targaryen with Season 2. Fans can brace themselves for another thrilling chapter in the gripping tale of power, betrayal, and dragons.
