MY BIG FAT GREEK WEDDING 3Official Trailer Sees the Portokalos Family Embarking on a Trip to Greece for a Family Reunion

The first official trailer for “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” has been released by Focus Features, giving fans a glimpse of the latest Portokalos family gathering.

The trailer sees Toula Portokalos (Nia Vardalos), her husband Ian, and the Portokalos family embarking on a trip to Greece for a family reunion. The film follows the family as they travel to Greece to “reconnect with [their] roots” in their late father’s childhood village, and promises to be heartwarming and hilarious.

Nia Vardalos, the star of the previous films, returns as the screenwriter and makes her directorial debut with this installment. She will be joined by the original cast members, including John Corbett, Louis Mandylor, Elena Kampouris, Maria Vacratsis, Andrea Martin, Gia Carides, Joey Fatone, and Lainie Kazan. The film also features new additions to the cast, such as Elias Kacavas and Melina Kotselou.

“My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” released in 2002, became a global sensation and the highest-grossing romantic comedy of all time. It followed the story of Fotoula “Toula” Portokalos, a young Greek-American woman who falls in love with Ian Miller, a non-Greek, much to the disapproval of her family. The film was based on Vardalos’ one-woman play and earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

In 2016, a sequel titled “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” was released, focusing on Toula’s discovery that her parents were not legally married. This revelation prompts another wedding celebration, this time in Greece, with the help of Toula and Ian’s daughter, Paris.

The upcoming “My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3” pays tribute to Michael Constantine, who portrayed Toula’s father and passed away in 2021. The film is produced by Tom Hanks, Rita Wilson, and Gary Goetzman, along with returning executive producers. It is set to premiere in theaters on September 8, 2023.

Fans of the beloved franchise can look forward to another heartwarming and comedic installment that celebrates family, culture, and love.
