Popular British rock band Coldplay is set to make their debut appearance in Greece during their Music Of The Spheres World Tour in 2024. This tour is already breaking sales records and reaffirming Coldplay’s position as one of the most influential acts in the music industry.
As part of the European leg of the tour, the band has shared exciting news for their fans in Greece, Romania, and Finland, as well as their long-awaited return to Rome and Budapest. As per the band’s website Coldplay.com, Coldplay will perform in Athens at the Olympic Stadium on June 08, 2024. The general pre-sale of tickets for Athens and other cities will commence on July 28.
Since the Music Of The Spheres World Tour commenced in March 2022, Coldplay has achieved remarkable success, selling over 7.5 million tickets and earning the title of the highest-grossing tour in the last two years. Audiences and critics alike have been captivated by their unforgettable performances, leading to accolades such as the Favorite Touring Artist award at the 2022 AMAs and the prestigious Tour of The Year title at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.
Not only has Coldplay thrilled fans with their music, but they have also demonstrated their commitment to environmental sustainability. A report from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology revealed that the current tour has significantly reduced CO2 emissions by 47% compared to their previous 2016/17 tour. Additionally, the tour has contributed to the planting of five million trees worldwide, with one tree being planted for every ticket sold.
Coldplay’s lead singer, Chris Martin, who attained an Ancient World Studies degree with first-class honors in Greek and Latin from University College London (UCL), has infused his passion for the subject into some of the band’s songs. For example, in the song “Something just like this,” Martin references the mythical ancient Greek heroes Achilles and Heracles, showcasing his deep interest in ancient Greece.
