Netflix is set to feature the next Greek production, “Smyrna, My Beloved,” following the success of the Greek series “Maestro” on the streaming platform.
The well-known subscription service has been in contact with Tanweer, the production company behind the film, indicating a strong desire to include it in their lineup. Contracts have reportedly been signed, and the announcement of the film’s release date is eagerly anticipated. “Smyrna, My Beloved” will become the latest addition to Netflix’s extensive library.
“Maestro,” created by Christoforos Papakaliatis, marked the first Greek series to be featured on Netflix. The show has garnered success with theatrical screenings in the United States and Australia, and the production company is currently in negotiations to bring it to cinemas in China and Russia. As for Netflix, viewers can expect two options for watching the film: the original Greek version with subtitles or a dubbed version.
Furthermore, it’s worth noting that Mimi Denisi, the star of “Smyrna, My Beloved,” is currently in negotiations for a continuation of the series. The next season will focus on the characters’ lives in Thessaloniki after being uprooted from Asia Minor.
