Mido Hamada steps into the role of King Darius, while Buck Braithwaite takes on the titular character, portraying the legendary Alexander the Great.

For those unfamiliar with this historical luminary, Alexander III of Macedon, better known as Alexander the Great, was a formidable Greek king reigning over Macedon, Greece, from 336 BC until his passing in 323 BC.

At the young age of 20, Alexander inherited a well-prepared Macedonian army from his father, King Philip II. His conquests began with a resounding triumph at the Battle of the Granicus River, which paved the way for his march into Asia Minor. The young leader displayed his military acumen in significant battles like Issus (333 BC) and Gaugamela (331 BC), stunning victories against the massive forces of Persian King Darius III.

Despite logistical hurdles and diverse landscapes, Alexander’s strategic brilliance, innovative tactics, and magnetic charisma ensured swift and decisive victories against Persian forces.

Venturing further east, he expanded his conquest into modern-day India and Pakistan, imprinting Hellenistic influence across regions. His legacy includes the establishment of iconic cities like Alexandria in Egypt and the Himalayas, contributing to the spread of Hellenism throughout these lands.

Alexander’s passing in 323 BC led to the emergence of successor states across his conquered territories, leaving behind a rich tapestry of folklore and enduring cities that still stand today, testament to his incredible conquests. Now, Netflix brings his epic story to life, promising viewers a captivating glimpse into the extraordinary life of this legendary Greek figure.
