British actor Tom Holland, known for his role as Spider-Man, has announced that he will be taking a break from acting for a year. In an interview with Extra, Holland, 27, revealed that he had a “difficult” experience while working on his Apple TV+ series, The Crowded Room. Despite the difficulties, he expressed his enjoyment of the project and his appreciation of the “learning curve of becoming a producer.”
“I’m no stranger to hard work. I’ve always lived by this idea that hard work is good work. And I really enjoyed it,” he said. “But then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where sort of was like, ‘I need to have a break.”
“I am excited to see how it turns out, and I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain,” he added.
In The Crowded Room, Holland portrays Danny Sullivan, a man who becomes entangled in a criminal case following a shooting incident in 1979 New York City. The series follows Danny’s interrogations by detective Rya Goodwin, played by Amanda Seyfried, through which his remarkable past, including a life-saving encounter with a stranger, is revealed.
The Crowded Room also features a talented ensemble cast, including Emmy Rossum, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, Lior Raz, Jason Isaacs, Christopher Abbott, Zachary Golinger, and Thomas Sadoski, who is Seyfried’s real-life husband.
The first three episodes of The Crowded Room premiere on Apple TV+ on Friday, with subsequent episodes set to air every until July 28.
