ATHENS, Greece – The National Meteorological Service Meteo has issued a warning regarding the impending return of Saharan dust to Greece, particularly affecting southern and western regions, with temperatures set to climb.
According to EMY, this dust event, anticipated to occur from Thursday onwards, is projected to be less intense than the one experienced in late April, which left parts of southern Greece, including Athens, shrouded in a hazy veil. However, it’s expected to be more pronounced in areas such as Crete and the Peloponnese this time around.
In terms of temperatures, southern and western Greece are anticipated to experience a notable rise, with highs reaching up to 29 degrees Celsius. In contrast, northern Greece will see temperatures peaking at 22 degrees Celsius, while the rest of the country will hover around 26 degrees Celsius.
As for the weather conditions, cloudiness is predicted for western, central, and northern Greece, accompanied by the likelihood of local rainfall and thunderstorms.
As Greece braces for the arrival of Saharan dust once again, authorities and citizens alike are encouraged to stay updated on weather forecasts and take necessary precautions to mitigate any potential disruptions.
