FIRE ATTACKOvernight Arson Attack Engulfs More than 10 Vehicles, Including School Buses in Central Athens

Early Thursday morning, a devastating arson attack ripped through the Zografou district of central Athens, leaving more than 10 vehicles, including five school buses, in flames. The incident occurred around 3 a.m. on Taxilou Street, where the fire is believed to have originated from the school buses before spreading to nearby cars and motorcycles.

Stella Fragoulis, the owner of a private school on the same street, recounted the harrowing moment when she received calls from concerned parents. “There could have been casualties, because there are apartments around here. We don’t have a problem with anyone, I really can’t understand why this happened. All our school buildings and some cars of neighbors were burnt,” she lamented.

Eyewitnesses described seeing a sudden flash followed by the sight of school buses engulfed in flames. One resident, who had his motorcycles destroyed in the blaze, expressed shock at the incident.

Authorities are investigating the attack, which follows a similar arson incident just days earlier. Last Sunday, at least five vehicles fell victim to flames in a separate incident. The motives behind these attacks remain unclear, leaving the community on edge and prompting heightened security measures.

The severity of the situation was captured in a video posted on YouTube, illustrating the intensity of the blaze and the extent of the damage inflicted on the vehicles and surrounding properties.
