BUSY SKYSKY Express To Fly 4.4 million Passengers in 2023

At an event, marking the start of the summer season, the head of the General Commercial Directorate at SKY Express, Gerasimos Skaltsas, expressed optimism about the airline’s performance in 2023, projecting 4.4 million passengers. He highlighted that 2022 had been a remarkable year for both SKY Express and Greek tourism, surpassing all expectations.

Skaltsas revealed that the company had a strong performance in the first quarter of 2023, and based on pre-bookings for the summer, they anticipate exceeding their targets. To accommodate the increasing demand, SKY Express plans to offer 3.8 million seats, a 17% increase from 2022, and a significant growth compared to the 1.3 million seats offered in 2019.

The airline is expected to operate approximately 54,000 flights to at least 65 destinations, up from 50,000 flights and 56 destinations in 2022. In the summer season alone, passenger traffic is projected to rise by 14% to reach 2.33 million passengers, compared to 1.91 million in the previous year.

SKY Express recently received its second Airbus A321neo, bringing the total fleet to 23 aircraft. While the possibility of listing on the Athens Stock Exchange is under consideration, the company’s current priority is focused on further developing SKY Express.

The positive outlook for SKY Express reflects the resilience and growth of the airline industry, indicating a strong recovery for Greek tourism in the post-pandemic era.
