JUST TRAGICTwo Greek Military Nurses Among Casualties of Tragic Road Collision in Libya

Two Greek military nurses, Lieutenant Evangelia Andreadaki and Lieutenant Glykeria Memekidou, have been identified as two of the casualties among the five-member Greek search-and-rescue team involved in a tragic car accident in Libya. They were en route from Benghazi to the flood-ravaged city of Derna as part of a humanitarian aid mission.

Lieutenant Andreadaki had previously experienced personal tragedy, losing her brother in a traffic accident and her uncle, an Air Force pilot, while on duty.

The other three victims were an officer from the Special Warfare Command’s Parachute Division and two civilians who volunteered for the mission. These civilians were the children of the Greek community president of Benghazi, Kanakis Manadaliou.

The Hellenic National Defence General Staff has not yet officially released the names of the deceased or the exact number of injured individuals.

Defense Minister Nikos Dendias has declared a three-day period of mourning for the Armed Forces.
