In a plot twist worthy of its own Netflix series, “Stranger Things” actor Matthew Modine, aka Dr. Brenner, is set to take on a new role as the officiant at co-star Millie Bobby Brown’s wedding to Jake Bongiovi, son of Jon Bon Jovi.
“I have one of those licenses to get people married,” Modine revealed to Access Daily, adding that he’s already penned some killer wedding vows. “Millie thought it’d be great, and then Jake said it would be a great idea,” he shared.
The 65-year-old, who’s no stranger to the big screen or the altar, admitted he’s only officiated one wedding before, but he’s excited for the opportunity to join the young couple in holy matrimony. “It’s such a beautiful thing,” Modine gushed.
Brown and Bongiovi, who’ve been dating since 2021 and announced their engagement in 2023, are ready to take the plunge. Brown’s Instagram post announcing their engagement had fans swooning, as she wrote, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ’em all.”
Their engagement story reads like a scene straight out of a romantic flick. Brown recounted on The Tonight Show how Bongiovi proposed underwater during a holiday, symbolically offering her a shell with the ring inside. However, the ring took a deep-sea dive of its own before Bongiovi heroically retrieved it, sealing the deal with a family heirloom once they surfaced.
As the countdown to the wedding begins, fans can’t help but wonder what other surprises are in store. Brown, at just 20, is bidding farewell to “Stranger Things” after its upcoming fifth season, while Bongiovi, 21, is making waves with his own acting career, recently snagging a role in the film “Rockbottom.”
From the Upside Down to the altar, it seems like these two are ready for their next adventure, with Modine set to ensure their journey into wedded bliss is nothing short of extraordinary.
