Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness have decided to go their separate ways after an impressive 27 years of marriage. They dropped the bombshell in a statement shared with People and confirmed by CNN.
“We’ve had nearly 3 decades of married life, and it’s been an incredible, loving journey. But now, we’re shifting gears and choosing to go on separate paths to explore our individual growth,” the statement read.
They emphasized their commitment to their family, saying, “Our family has always come first and always will. As we step into this new chapter, we do so with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
The couple, who originally met on the set of the TV series “Corelli” back in 1995, tied the knot the following year. They’re both Australian actors and are proud parents to two kids, Oscar, 23, and Ava, 18.
Hugh Jackman had recently celebrated their wedding anniversary in April with a heartfelt Instagram post, pouring out his love for Deborra-Lee Furness.
“I love you so much,” he had written. “Together, we’ve built a beautiful family and life. Your laughter, spirit, generosity, humor, cheekiness, courage, and loyalty are extraordinary gifts to me.”
Their joint statement concluded with, “This is the only statement either of us will be making.” It’s a moment of reflection for a couple that has shared nearly three decades together and will now embark on new journeys separately.
