Limassol, Cyprus – Thirteen individuals have been arrested in connection with the violent events that unfolded in Limassol on Friday night, including the main person believed to have organized the anti-migrant protest march.
Cypriot Police reported that around 19:30 on Friday, approximately 500 people gradually congregated in the GSO parking area in Limassol, eventually making their way toward Molos. The police provided details stating, “During the event, 12 individuals were arrested for committing various offenses. Some individuals caused malicious damage to shop windows along the waterfront, and trash bins were set on fire.”
One additional individual, purported to be the organizer of the event, was detained with a court warrant. All detainees have been remanded in custody.
During the tumultuous incidents, five individuals informed the police that they were subjected to assaults by unidentified individuals who physically attacked them. All of the victims were transported to Limassol General Hospital, where they received initial medical treatment before being discharged.
