Although they didn’t make it onto the main Rich List, which requires a minimum wealth of £350 million, their financial success is still remarkable. Among individuals under 35, 32-year-old Ed Sheeran holds the seventh position with a fortune of £300 million. His wealth has been boosted by the tremendous sales of his sixth album, “Subtract”.

Adele, now 35 years old, secures the ninth spot with a wealth of £165 million. The London-born singer has sold over 100 million albums worldwide, and earlier this year, she announced the extension of her lavish Las Vegas residency, reportedly earning £500,000 per show.

Harry Styles, at the age of 29, had the best-selling album in the UK last year with “Harry’s House”. He is currently on tour in the UK and has accumulated a fortune of £150 million.

At the top of the main Rich List are Gopi Hinduja and family, with a combined wealth of £35 billion, an increase from £28.4 billion the previous year. They own a vast conglomerate of businesses across the world.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe, worth £29.6 billion, makes a return to the top 10 of Britain’s richest people after a two-year absence. He is currently known for his efforts to acquire Manchester United, the football team he has supported since childhood. Sir Jim accumulated his fortune through Ineos, a chemicals and raw materials business.

This year marks the first time since the 2008 global financial crisis, when the banking industry nearly collapsed, that the number of billionaires on the Rich List has declined. There are now 171 billionaires listed, down by six from the previous year. The economic impact of COVID-19, along with high inflation and rising interest rates, has negatively affected the fortunes of the wealthy.

Some notable figures who have experienced a decline in wealth include Sir Richard Branson, whose fortune has almost halved to £2.4 billion due to the pandemic’s impact on his businesses. UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murthy have also seen their wealth decrease by £200 million, primarily driven by Ms. Murthy’s stake in her father’s IT business Infosys.

The recently crowned King Charles III ranks 263rd on the Rich List with a fortune of £600 million. Although relatively low compared to other entries, he surpasses the late Queen Elizabeth II, who was worth £320 million according to last year’s list. J.K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter books, boasts a considerable fortune of £875 million, a £25 million increase from the previous year. Rowling’s wealth might continue to grow as she reportedly engages in talks with HBO about adapting her famous creation into a television series.

Additionally, two stars from the Harry Potter films, Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson, feature on the list of the richest individuals under 35. Radcliffe, 33 years old, holds a fortune of £92 million, while Watson, also 33, is estimated to possess a wealth of £60 million.
