Argentinian football legend World Cup winner, Lionel Messi is set to join American club Inter Miami, following his departure from French champions,Paris St-Germain. Despite receiving a more lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal, Messi has chosen to reject it. The deal with Inter Miami involves collaboration with renowned brands such as Adidas and Apple.
At 35 years old, Messi has been crowned the world’s best player seven times, and he is expected to win the award again later this year following his success at the World Cup. This move marks his first time playing outside of Europe. While he initially wanted to remain in Europe for another season, the lack of satisfactory offers left him with the choice between Inter Miami and Al-Hilal.
Despite speculation that he would join Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema in the Saudi Arabian league, Messi ultimately decided to join Major League Soccer’s Inter Miami. His decision was influenced by various factors, including lifestyle opportunities and partnerships with major brands that extend beyond football. Messi already owns a house in Miami, which he currently rents out.
While a return to Barcelona was a desire for Messi this summer, the financial constraints imposed by Financial Fair Play regulations in La Liga made it impossible to pursue such ambitions. During his time at Paris St-Germain, the club won Ligue 1 in both seasons, but their early exit from the Champions League meant his tenure in France was not considered a significant success. Messi’s two-year contract with Paris St-Germain comes to an end this summer, leading both parties to part ways.
