Rhodes was the place to be on Sunday, as two of Europe’s basketball powerhouses—Olympiakos and Panathinaikos—battled it out for the season’s first trophy. The Super Cup final ended in a thrilling 86-85 victory for Olympiakos, leaving their bitter rivals green with envy (literally).
The match had everything: high-stakes drama, slam dunks, and even a busted hoop. The game came to a halt just four minutes in when Moses Wright of Olympiakos threw down a dunk so fierce it bent the ring. Cue a half-hour delay as officials scrambled to replace the damaged basket. Talk about breaking the game, literally.

Olympiakos started strong, ending the first quarter with a 21-16 lead and keeping their foot on the gas to finish the half 45-38. But Panathinaikos wasn’t going down without a fight. The Greens came roaring back in the third quarter, outscoring Olympiakos 24-12 to take a five-point lead.
Just when it looked like Panathinaikos might pull off the comeback of the century, the Reds had other plans. A gutsy fightback saw Olympiakos edge ahead 63-62 by the end of Q3.
The final quarter? Pure heart-pounding action! Olympiakos clung to their lead, holding off a fierce Panathinaikos rally to clinch the win by a single point.
In the semifinals the day before, Panathinaikos cruised past Aris 81-68, while Olympiakos dispatched Peristeri 79-74. But Sunday’s showdown was the real blockbuster. Though the season is just getting started.
