Celtic highly rated manager, Ange Postecoglou has been touted to take over reins at English Premier League club, Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs search for a permanent manager has been ongoing since March, following the departure of Antonio Conte, with no suitable replacement confirmed yet.
According to The Independent, Postecoglou is being strongly considered by the club. His reputation in Europe has skyrocketed during his two-year tenure at Celtic, where he has achieved remarkable success. Since joining in mid-2021, the former Socceroos coach has led Celtic to win five out of the six possible trophies.
One influential factor that could contribute to Postecoglou’s potential move to England is the appointment of Scott Munn as the club’s new chief football officer. Munn, a former executive in the Australian Football League (AFL), National Rugby League (NRL), and A-League, will assume his position in July. Given his familiarity with Postecoglou from their time together in Australia and the City Football Group, which partially owns Yokohama F. Marinos, a Japanese club that Postecoglou guided to a title in 2019, it is likely that Munn will advocate for the hiring of the Australian-born Greek manager.
However, despite the growing interest from English clubs like Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, Postecoglou might not be ready to depart Celtic just yet. The Scottish club is currently pursuing a potential treble, which involves winning three domestic titles in a season—a rare accomplishment. Nevertheless, with Postecoglou’s increasing reputation and success, it seems only a matter of time before he is picked up by a Premier League team.
