SISTER DEFENDERManchester United Captain and Defender Harry Maguire Will Not Be Traveling to Greece for His Retrial

Following the quashing of his assault conviction in Greece, Manchester United captain Harry Maguire will not be traveling to Greece for his retrial. Instead, he will remain in the UK and participate in the court proceedings via video link. Maguire’s initial conviction stemmed from an incident that occurred during his family vacation in Mykonos in 2020, where he was involved in a brawl and subsequently received a 21-month suspended sentence. Despite the charge being overturned, the retrial could potentially result in different consequences and impact his criminal record in Greece.

Maintaining his innocence, Maguire aims to clear his name during the retrial and will be represented by lawyers. The trial is scheduled to take place in June on the neighboring island of Syros, but it has been reported that his physical presence is not required.

Maguire has previously claimed that he was protecting his sister Daisy, who was allegedly approached by two men and injected with an unknown substance, causing her to lose consciousness. He asserts that he committed no crime and alleges that he was beaten by the police upon his arrest. In an interview with the BBC upon his return from Greece, Maguire described the experience as “horrible” and expressed his desire never to go through it again, emphasizing that he does not wish such an ordeal on anyone.
