Athens, Greece – Kenyan runner Edwin Kiprop Kiptoo emerged as the victor in the 40th Athens Authentic Marathon, leaving a trail of record-breaking achievements in his wake. The iconic Kallimarmaro stadium bore witness to Kiptoo’s grand entrance, where the deafening cheers of thousands celebrated not only his personal triumph but the collective spirit of the remarkable athletes who participated in this historic event.
Kiptoo’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary, as he shattered the existing course record by completing the grueling 42.195-kilometer distance in a staggering time of 2 hours, 10 minutes, and 34 seconds. This remarkable feat surpassed the previous record of 2:10.37, which stood unbroken for nine years and was set by Felix Kipchirchir Kandie, another Kenyan athlete.
