FREE CONNECTIONAll Passengers Aboard Emirates Flights Can Now Enjoy Free Wi-Fi Connectivity, Regardless of Travel Class

Emirates has introduced a new enhancement to its inflight connectivity, allowing all passengers to enjoy free Wi-Fi onboard. This development means that every Emirates passenger, regardless of travel class, can access some form of complimentary connectivity by signing up to Emirates Skywards.

Since the implementation of this enhancement, an additional 30,000 Economy Class passengers are now connecting to free onboard Wi-Fi every week.

Emirates has been a leader in inflight Wi-Fi advancements, having invested over $300 million in onboard connectivity thus far. All members of Emirates Skywards, regardless of their tier status (Blue, Silver, Gold, or Platinum) and travel class (Economy, Premium Economy, Business, or First), can now benefit from free app messaging. First Class passengers who are Skywards members will also enjoy unlimited free internet access, allowing them to work or shop online during their flight. Silver, Gold, and Platinum Skywards members traveling in Business Class will also have complimentary internet access. Platinum Skywards members will have free internet access in all classes.

The increased availability of free connectivity has been well received by Emirates passengers, resulting in an average of 450,000 users per month. This represents a 30% increase in passenger usage compared to the same period last year. Currently, almost 10% of all passengers utilize the complimentary onboard Wi-Fi, with higher usage rates on routes through the Americas (nearly 20%) and European and African routes (over 11%).

Emirates is committed to continually improving the connectivity experience and will invest in upgrades and enhancements. The airline’s upcoming Airbus A350 aircraft, scheduled to enter service in 2024, will offer new high-speed, inflight broadband powered by Inmarsat’s GX Aviation. This agreement will enhance connectivity and coverage, even on flights over the Arctic. Additionally, Emirates plans to equip its A350 fleet with enhanced passenger connectivity, including Thales’ AVANT Up system and Optiq smart display, providing passengers with multiple device pairing options and fast-charging capabilities.

To access the free Wi-Fi, passengers simply need to join Emirates Skywards, which can be done easily and at no cost. Emirates Skywards has over 30 million members worldwide and offers a wide range of rewards and benefits. The program has received numerous industry awards for its innovative offerings and exceptional customer service.
