QAT IN MYKONOSQatar Airways Celebrates 5 Years of Flying to Mykonos

Qatar Airways recently celebrated five years of operating flights between Doha and Mykonos, Greece. The airline, renowned as the world’s best according to Skytrax, initially launched the service from Mykonos International Airport on May 30, 2018. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the flights were temporarily suspended and resumed in 2021 as part of a travel bubble.

Presently, the seasonal Doha-Mykonos route operates four times a week, utilizing Qatar Airways’ modern Airbus A320 aircraft. The route has gained immense popularity, particularly among travelers from the Gulf region and Australia, who are enticed by the charm of Mykonos in the Cyclades Islands of the Aegean Sea. On achieving the milestone, Eric Odone, Qatar Airways’ VP Sales Europe, said: “We are delighted to celebrate another great year of flights between Doha and Mykonos.”

Alexander Zinell, CEO of Fraport Greece, acknowledged the airline’s contribution to Mykonos’ prosperity as a sought-after summer destination, having served 586 flights and 45,664 passengers thus far. Zinell eagerly anticipates welcoming even more visitors at Mykonos’ exceptional airport in the years ahead.

Qatar Airways currently operates flights from two airports in Greece, including three daily seasonal flights from Athens International Airport. As an award-winning airline, it was recently named the “Airline of the Year” at the 2022 World Airline Awards by Skytrax, also receiving accolades for the “World’s Best Business Class,” “World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining,” and “Best Airline in the Middle East.”

Operating flights to over 160 destinations worldwide, Qatar Airways connects travelers through its hub, Hamad International Airport in Doha. The airport, consistently recognized by Skytrax, was named the “World’s Best Airport” in 2021 and 2022. In the current year, it secured the second-best airport ranking and received the “Best Airport in the Middle East” award for the ninth consecutive time, along with the distinction of “World’s Best Airport Shopping.”
