Following the overwhelming demand for tickets, Coldplay has announced a second concert in Athens. The British band’s initial live performance at OAKA, scheduled for Saturday, June 8, 2024, sold out quickly after ticket pre-sales were launched on Tuesday, July 25. Due to “phenomenal demand in the presale,” Coldplay informed fans via Instagram that a second concert will take place on June 9, 2024, at the Olympic stadium.
This comes after the success of their sold-out 2023 summer tour and the announcement of a third run of European dates for June, July, and August 2024, as part of their record-breaking Music Of The Spheres World Tour. These new tour dates include Coldplay’s first-ever performances in Greece, Romania, and Finland, as well as their return to Rome since 2003 and Budapest since 2008.
Fans had the opportunity to register on Coldplay.com for access to the first phase of ticket sales, which opened for the entire tour on the same day. Since the Music Of The Spheres World Tour began in March 2022, Coldplay has sold over 7.5 million tickets, making it the highest-selling tour in the past two years. The tour has been met with critical acclaim, winning accolades such as Favorite Touring Artist at the 2022 AMAs and Tour of The Year at the 2023 iHeartRadio Awards.
Additionally, Coldplay’s current tour has made significant efforts to reduce its environmental impact. A report from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology revealed that the tour has reduced CO2 emissions by 47% compared to their previous tour in 2016/17 on a show-by-show basis. The band has also contributed to planting five million trees worldwide, with one tree planted for every ticket sold.
To make their shows more accessible and affordable to their fans, Coldplay will release a limited number of Infinity Tickets for their concerts. These tickets will cost €20 each and will be issued in pairs next to each other, allowing each purchaser to buy up to two Infinity Tickets. DHL has been named the Official Transport Partner of the Music Of The Spheres World Tour, supporting the band’s efforts to reduce the tour’s emissions by 50%.
