The Acropolis Museum in Athens is celebrating the August Full Moon on Tuesday, 1st August 2023, with an enchanting music and dance event called “Tango Acropolis.” Taking place in the Museum’s entrance courtyard at 9 p.m., the evening promises to be a delightful blend of passion and rhythm.
The event will kick off with mesmerizing performances by world-renowned tango dancers, setting the stage for an unforgettable night. Following that, the renowned Orchestra “Con Estilo Tango” will grace the audience with live music, paying tribute to the legendary musicians of the Golden Age, including Astor Piazzola, Osvaldo Pugliese, and Juan d’ Arienzo, among others. The event welcomes both professional and amateur tango dancers from the public to join in, turning the Museum’s courtyard into a magnificent dance floor. Accompanied by the talents of Nikos Papadimitriou on piano, Lefteris Grivas on bandoneon, and Lia Selalmazidi on violin, attendees will revel in the passionate melodies and captivating movements. For this special occasion, the Acropolis Museum will extend its opening hours until midnight, with free entry starting from 8 p.m. Visitors will have the unique opportunity to explore the galleries and admire the stunning view of the illuminated Acropolis, bathed in the enchanting glow of the moonlight.
