Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are hitting a rough patch, with rumors swirling about a potential split and the sale of their L.A. mansion. Just a month after whispers of marital discord began, the couple is now reportedly contemplating divorce.
“They can’t get on the same page [and] have been discussing divorce as an option,” an insider revealed exclusively to Us Weekly. The source added that while both Affleck, 51, and Lopez, 54, are trying to figure out their future, J.Lo is pushing forward both personally and professionally. “It has been really hard for her, and she is trying to figure out her next act,” a second insider noted, explaining that maintaining her image and career has taken a toll on her relationship with Affleck.
Eagle-eyed fans noticed in May that the couple hadn’t been seen together in 47 days, sparking speculation. It was then revealed that Affleck had moved out of their L.A. mansion “several weeks earlier.” Though they reunited for his daughter Violet’s high school graduation in late May, rumors of their issues persisted. Lopez seemed to confirm the tension by canceling her “This Is Me … Now” tour to spend more time with her children and close family.
The couple’s decision to sell their L.A. home has only added to their troubles. “Jennifer is distraught. She wants to sell their house off-market to try and get less attention surrounding it,” a source disclosed, adding that “Ben doesn’t care about the negative attention” because he’s used to it. Meanwhile, Lopez is focusing on her kids, Emme and Max, 16, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, and keeping busy in L.A. She was recently seen shopping in Beverly Hills with Emme and dining at Giorgio Baldi.
Amidst the turmoil, Affleck has been leaning on his best friend, Matt Damon, for support. “Ben’s been leaning on Matt a lot lately when it comes to everything he’s going through with Jennifer,” the insider shared. “Matt knows there isn’t much he can do aside from listening and just being there for Ben.”
Interestingly, Affleck has also been spotted having deep conversations with his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, who has been encouraging him to work on his marriage with Lopez. “Jennifer Garner is encouraging Ben to work on his marriage to Jen,” a source exclusively told Us Weekly. “She fully supports their relationship and wants nothing more than for him to be happy.” Garner was even seen visiting Affleck’s house in L.A., and later, Affleck drove her home.
