WTA 500Greek-Australian Jaimee Fourlis Secures First-Ever Victory Against Top-100 Ranked

In a remarkable display of skill, 23-year-old Jaimee Fourlis has achieved a significant milestone by securing her first-ever victory against a top-100 ranked opponent. The talented Greek Australian tennis player accomplished this feat at the prestigious WTA 500 tournament held in Berlin.

As the current world No. 218, Fourlis commenced her qualifying campaign in fine form, triumphing over German wildcard Mara Guth in a commanding straight-set victory during the first round. Undeterred by fatigue, she returned to the court later in the day, showcasing her resilience in a hard-fought three-set battle during the final qualifying round.

Despite being in only her seventh professional grass-court tournament, Fourlis exhibited exceptional prowess to defeat world No. 56, Peyton Stearns of the United States, in an enthralling encounter. The 6-4, 2-6, 6-4 victory marked her entry into the top 100 rankings.

Previously, Fourlis had encountered difficulties against opponents within the top 100, losing in all 11 previous encounters. However, the recent triumph against Stearns seems to have boosted her confidence as she prepares to face China’s Wang Xinyu in the opening round.
