GOING PAPERLESSEmirates to Stop Accepting Paper Boarding Pass for Flights Departing Dubai from May 15th Onwards

Emirates is taking a significant stride forward in enhancing the convenience and digital capabilities of its passengers’ travel experiences. Starting from May 15th, the airline will require most travelers departing from Dubai to use a mobile boarding pass instead of a traditional printed paper version.

Passengers checking in at Terminal 3 will receive their mobile boarding pass via email or SMS. For those who check in online, they can easily load their boarding pass into their Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, or retrieve it using the user-friendly Emirates App. Additionally, the baggage receipt will be directly emailed to passengers or made available on the Emirates App.

This initiative serves two important purposes. Firstly, it significantly reduces paper waste, aligning with Emirates’ commitment to sustainability. Secondly, it offers passengers a streamlined and efficient digital check-in experience, eliminating concerns about lost or misplaced boarding passes and providing peace of mind during their journey.

The mobile boarding pass can be used throughout the travel journey, from Dubai Duty Free to security checks and boarding, simply by presenting the boarding pass on a mobile device. Emirates agents and airport staff will effortlessly scan the QR code on the mobile boarding pass as passengers progress through the airport and board the aircraft.

However, there are exceptions to the mobile boarding pass requirement. Passengers traveling with infants, unaccompanied minors, those needing special assistance, individuals with onward flights on other airlines, and all passengers heading to the US may still need a physical boarding pass printed.

For passengers without mobile devices or facing technical limitations such as low battery, system malfunctions, message delays, or lack of network connectivity, the option to request a printed boarding pass will be available at the check-in counters through Emirates agents.

Emirates has been committed to delivering digitally enabled journeys, and millions of passengers have already benefited from the convenience it provides. Along with hassle-free check-in and itinerary management, the Emirates app allows users to access digital menus in advance and create personalized playlists of their favorite movies, TV shows, and music available on the in-flight entertainment system, ice.

In addition to the mobile boarding pass implementation, registered passengers can now enjoy a seamless travel experience at Dubai International Airport. They can utilize the biometric machines or smart gates at various airport stations. UAE residents can register to use the Smart Gates at Emirates Terminal 3, enabling them to swiftly pass through immigration each time they return to Dubai. UAE citizens, residents, and eligible visitors can utilize their passport, boarding pass, or a valid UAE ID to access the Smart Gates, while GCC nationals and visitors eligible for visa on arrival can utilize a biometric passport for expedited passage.
