BROMANCE OVERMark Philippoussis Quits Stefanos Tsitsipas’ Team Days Before French Open

Australian former tennis star Mark Philippoussis has revealed that he will no longer be assisting in coaching world number five, Stefanos Tsitsipas, describing it as the end of an eventful journey. Philippoussis joined Tsitsipas’s father, Apostolos, in the coaching box during the latter part of the previous season, and their collaboration proved fruitful as they guided the Greek player to the Australian Open final.

Although Tsitsipas was defeated by Novak Djokovic in the final held in January, he had previously expressed admiration for the impact of Philippoussis, referring to him as a “wise man.” However, the 46-year-old former Wimbledon and US Open finalist, who has Greek heritage, took to Instagram to announce the termination of their partnership just days before the French Open. No reasons were provided for the decision.

On Tuesday, Philippoussis expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to be a part of Tsitsipas’s team, stating, “It was a great ride and experience, and I’m proud of what we achieved together in the short amount of time we had.” He extended his best wishes to Tsitsipas for his future endeavors both on and off the court, emphasizing his desire for health, happiness, and success.

While the coaching arrangement with Philippoussis has concluded, Tsitsipas’s father will continue to serve as his primary coach for the young tennis talent.
